How to Protect your Folder without any Software

there so many ways of hiding, protecting folders and files on an xp pro box even with one administrator account, but such security depends on the level of skill the other users with whom you use that computer have, for a user like me, your computer and data can never be safe, but try this trick or follow advise from other members coz they are all fine to me




1. Open any Directory of your system then go to  TOOLS MENU => FOLDER OPTION =>
 2. Scroll down and unchecked the "Use simple file Shearing (Recommended)" Option.
 
3. Now right click the folder which you want to lock => click on Property. now you can see the here is a new tab "Security" here you can see all the users and administrator accounts of your system. and bellow that permission for the folder.

from here you can change the folder permission or lock even you cant delete the folder also. apply the permission and click on OK you are done.

Note: after the you done process replete the second step in the second step image there is a "restore default" button and click on it, when you want to unlock the folder replete the step and remove the deny check options.

Installing AVG 9.0

 
Once you have downloaded the file, double click on the file to run it. Download the latest version from here Then proceed to Step 9.


For Windows XP/2000
  1. Insert the CD into your CD/DVD Drive
  2. Active Content. You must click Yes to allow active content
  3. An Internet browser window will appear, proceed to step 5.
For Windows Vista/7
  1. Insert the CD into your CD/DVD Drive
  2. Autoplay. You must click Run index.html to proceed.
  3. Active Content. You must click Yes to allow active content.
  4. An Internet browser window will appear, proceed to step 5
  Note: If you do not see an Internet browser window, follow the steps below:
  • Go to Start > Computer (or My Computer)
  • Right click your CD/DVD drive
  • Select Explore
  • Double click the folder "Win"
  • Double click the folder "Home"
  • Double click the file called "avg_ipw_stf_all_9...exe"
  • Proceed to Step 9
  1. Place the dot next to Install full version
  2. Click Continue
  3. From the drop down, select your AVG Product
    (If you're unsure, select AVG Internet Security)
  4. Click Install 
  5. You will now be prompted to run the file, click Run
     The AVG Setup will extract needed files to the disk:


The Installation Process

Welcome.
Choose your preferred language from the drop down box.
Click Next to continue.

 Licence Agreement.
Please read the Licence Agreement. If you agree, please place a tick in the box "I have read the licence agreement". Click Accept to continue.

 AVG Setup will check your system status:




Select Installation Type.
Place the dot next to Standard Installation. Click Next to continue.


Personalise AVG
Enter your Name, Company Name (Optional) and Licence/Sales Number.


AVG Security Toolbar
If you would like to install the AVG Security Toolbar, place a tick in the box,
"Yes, I wish to install the AVG Security Toolbar".
Click Next

Applications Termination
If there are any applications open that AVG needs to close, it will alert you here. Click Next and AVG will close these programs. You will not see this screen if there are no other applications open, this is normal.

Installing AVG...
You will see a green bar indicating the process of the installation.

Configuration complete
Congratulations! AVG is now successfully installed and fully configured. If you would like to assist us by enabling reporting of detected threats to AVG, place a tick in the box.
 Click Finish to complete configuration of AVG.

Restart Required
You will need to restart your computer to complete the AVG installation. If you wish to do so immediately, click Yes. Otherwise, click No and AVG will be fully operational after your next computer restart.
